EXPO PACK México Projects as Biggest and Best Yet
Event serves emergence of record breaking Mexican workforce
Reston, Va.; November 2017 – EXPO PACK México 2018 (June 5-8; Mexico City) returns to the site of its largest event in history at an opportune time for exhibitors as Mexican demographics shift to include a larger workforce to fill a record number of new jobs, resulting in economic growth and changing consumer needs according to show producer, PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies.
With seven months before Expo Santa Fe México welcomes the largest packaging and processing event in Latin America, exhibition space is nearly 93 percent of EXPO PACK México 2016’s record tally of 19,323 net square meters (~208,000 net square feet).
“Participation in trade shows and industry events are critical to demonstrating a commitment to the Mexican market,” says Laura Thompson, senior director of expositions for PMMI. “Our support by PMMI members is already outpacing previous EXPO PACK events and is directly in line with PMMI research that positions the U.S. as the leading supplier of packaging machinery to Mexico.”
In 2016 the PMMI Pavilion grew an unprecedented 11 percent from the previous show, topping out at 2,379 net square meters (~25,600 net square feet). The 2018 PMMI Pavilion is already over 20 percent larger accounting for 2,871 net square meters (31,000 net square feet) of exhibit space. This is in addition to international pavilions from Argentina, Brazil, China, France, Italy and Spain as well as a State of Illinois Pavilion.
“Mexico continues to import nearly 85 percent of its packaging machinery at an average annual growth rate of almost six percent,” says Gerardo Barajas, director for EXPO PACK.
EXPO PACK Mexico’s Santa Fe location also allows easy access to prospective buyers from the Mexican States of Puebla, Guanajuato, Estado de México, Queretaro, Hidalgo and Morelos. Strategically located between two international airports, international attendees are once again expected from throughout Latin America, including targeted buying groups from Guatemala, Costa Rica and Colombia. In total, more than 23,000 domestic and international attendees are expected to visit over 1,000 exhibitors from 20 different countries.
